Gone Too Soon |
July 21, 2012 |
Like a comet blazing 'cross the evening sky,
Gone too soon.
Like a rainbow fading in the twinkling of an eye,
Gone too soon.
Shiny and sparkly and splendidly bright,
Here one day, gone one night.
Like the loss of sunlight on a cloudy afternoon,
Gone too soon.
Like a castle built upon a sandy beach,
Gone too soon.
Like a perfect flower that is just beyond your reach,
Gone too soon
Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight,
Here one day, gone one night.
Like a sunset, dying with the rising of the moon,
Gone too soon.
-M.J-
Rest up and keep a place for me.
I miss you Auntie.
Love,
Ajong

My best friend and mom, is still very unreal to me that you are gone forever. I remember the times you call me sweet names “grandma, manoh”. You were so happy when I was pregnant and told me how much you were going to spoil your grandson. You always co oked me the nicest meals and I miss them. I was scared one time you got really ill and I said to you not to die and you said “I’m not going to die now, I have to see my grandchild and take care of him”, mom where are you NOW?.
Whenever you go to the store you will come home with something for me; something you know I will like. You told me not to worry about a baby sitter because you will baby sit so I could go to school. We always talked of you coming to stay with me and I taking good care of you when I finish school. Even when you became so ill you still struggled to do things for me because you always wanted me to be happy. You were so proud of us all, how amazing we are. When I sit and think about all these times I cry mother. I find myself dialing your number to ask how your day is going. Mom I’m so proud of you. I know I will be an amazing mother too. I remember our dancing, singing, laughing out loud and making jokes. You were my closest friend mother and we shared a lot of stories.
Every morning you will come knock on my door to hand wash the baby’s clothes. I always said no because your hands could barely hold something but you would say “how can I be alive and don’t wash my grandson’s clothes.” You were very happy to do so. I’m so empty without you mom. No one to call and check on me at school as you did. You have left a hole in my heart that can never be healed mom. I know you were so much in pain but I wish you were still alive for me to see you when I get home. I know you are in a better place now. I can see you smiling as always. You were such a great mom to all and you will forever remain my lovely mother. Greet your husband (MY DAD), grandpa, grandma, great grandma, my sister and everyone there with you.

Mama Rose,
I was fortunate enough to have known you since I was a boy in Grand-Hanger,Douala. When things didnt go your way, you remained optimistic and always saw the good in people. You are easily the most generous person I have known. Always wanting to share what you had with your fellow neighbour. I remember when you were given the nickname "Mami Zengue" in our neighbourhood because of your passion for singing and dancing. You always possessed a youthful exuberance that was infectious to the people around you. You often called me "my son". You were nothing but a Mom and treated me and others as such.
Importantly, you showed us what true courage and toughness is all about. When you faced varying bouts of adversity, you took the challenge head-on. Taking it one day at a time. You are and will remain a Champion.
As much as we are grieving, you left a lasting legacy for us to carry forward. That, we will do!
RIP Mama Rose.

Our dearest Aunty Rose,
you are the most courageous person we have ever seen, you were the most loving aunty we might ever have and we love and miss you very much. Aunty I will never forget the day you, Sandra Nkeng, and uncle Enow came down to Maryland for an occasion and I had to make you all breakfast. As I was frying some eggs you came to me and thanked me for taking very good care of you father (Ateh-alem) and your in-law (Nkeng), but today I am thanking you for never giving up on faith and teaching us to be stronger in every step we take, to be stronger in letting nothing hold us back when moving forward, thank you very much aunty Rose. The best we all can do in remembering you is never forgetting these lessons and knowing that you have finish your fight and now you are resting with the almighty God, Mami, Mbo, Collete, and your Husband in perfect harmony and peace.

My Dearest mom was indeed a THOUGH WOMAN who fought so hard against sickness… words cannot express the sadness we feel about your lost and absence .You were a precious gift from God above, so much beauty, grace and love. You touched our hearths in so many ways, your smile so bright even on the bad days you heard God's whisper calling you home. You didn’t want to go and leave us .You loved us so much so that, you held on tight, till all the strength was gone and you could no longer FIGHT...God had called your name so many times before, you knew you could make him wait nomore. So you gave your hands to Him and slowly drifted away from us, knowing fully well that with our love, we will be together again someday.
Mummy i remember those days how u used to call me "MY WIFE...",
How u and i used to dance Bate Nico in your room and watch T.V.
The day Richard proposed to me, you were so happy and asked me to take good care of my ring and you called me every day to ask about the ring.
You always called me even if i was in class taking a test, I will go out of classed so we could talk.
Everyday u made sure u dialed my number just to tell me “I love u my wife…”even though u could barely talk, still u made all effort to let me know that u loved me.
I remember all the promises you made to me...where are you Now... Mummmmmmmmy.. .
You were always there to make sure we are happy even on your sick bed.
Mom i love you and thank you for all you did for me and i hope someday i will make you proud for whatever comes to be.

I love and miss you so much!! :( |

Hey Mom, I can’t tell you enough how much I Miss and love you. I used tell you how much I love you every night before going to bed. Now there’s no one for me... Mom, you are and always be my hero. I’ve always looked up to you. You are the strongest person I ever knew....so kind hearted. You lived your life always putting others first. You taught me to be responsible, caring, respectful, kind to others and so much more. You taught me things that I could never learn in school. I am never ever going to forget the life lessons I learned from you. Thanks to you Mom!!!
I miss and I Love you so dearly every day and night. I miss our daily phone calls, I remember you would always call to check on me, and ask how my day was, I would say my day was great. Whenever I asked you how you were feeling, you always said the same thing to me “mom I am doing great don’t worry about me” even if you had a cold, you never will admit it to me. You always make sure that I had nothing to worry about. That’s just the kind of person you were. Mom, I miss you so much, words can’t even describe how much I miss and love you. There’s a hole in my heart that will never heal.
You were always worrying about me. I remember you waking up so early on winter mornings, so you can call me on my way to the bus stop. You always said “it too dark outside, and bad things happens, talking to you on the phone will keep people away”. No matter what you were going through, you were always putting us first. You never admit to us how much pain you were going through.
I was always look forward to weekends, so I could see you, and we would talk and listen to your favorite music. Even though you were too sick to dance, you always struggle to get up and dance a bit. Mom you were an "iron lady". I love and miss you so much. Knowing that you’re gone is so unbelievable to me. It’s very hard to accept the fact that you re gone forever. I would give the world up, just to see and hold you one more time. I know you in a better place now. I love and miss you so much mom. Tell dad, Collette, great grandma, Mbo, and my namesake I say hi and I love and miss them all.
It` been your daughter Atem
